Xhale is developing Self-Monitoring And Reporting Therapeutics (SMART™), a novel technology enabling breath-detectable versions of therapeutic drugs with the potential to dramatically enhance both safety and efficacy. SMART drugs release unique markers in the breath upon ingestion that are then measured with a small hand-held device, enabling any therapeutic drug to be made self-reporting via the breath.

Xhale's SMART™ technology is being deployed in pharmaceutical clinical trials with a line of breath-based Medication Adherence monitors and SMART versions of trial drugs. The SMART system provides the first method of proving that clinical trial participants took the right medication and the right dose at the right time during a clinical trial.

Xhale is developing a breath-based monitor for Propofol, which is rapidly becoming the most commonly used IV-based anesthesic agent. The Xhale system will be the first to allow monitoring of ongoing blood level of propofol, providing anesthesiologists with a monitoring system for Propofol similar to that provided for gas anesthetic agents.

Xhale's diagnostics pipeline includes breath-based Therapeutic Drug Monitoring, and devices to replace current blood and urine tests with real-time, point-of-care/point-of-need breath-based devices. These non-invasive breath-based diagnostics would be fast, easy to use, pain-free, safe and accurate.
