Exhaled breath is a unique bodily fluid that can be analyzed by a wide variety of sensors and biosensors, and Xhale is a world leader in the collection and analysis of breath for medical applications. As a diagnostic matrix, exhaled breath offers a huge advantage: Using breath, samples can be collected and tested with results delivered in real time at the point of testing in both the consumer and healthcare environments. There is no need for patient blood samples to be drawn or for samples to be sent to a central lab for results.

Xhale's patent suite includes numerous applications covering point of care diagnostic testing. The company envisions breath-based tests for various biological conditions, both by detection of target analytes and markers in exhaled breath and through comparison of the concentration of certain endogenous compounds and markers to the concentration of other endogenous compounds. The company is also working on devices which will measure the blood levels of therapeutic drugs via measuring and correlating the concentration of the drug in the exhaled breath to the concentration in the blood, enabling real-time, point-of-care Therapeutic Drug Monitoring.

Xhale is dedicated to the use of breath in numerous novel medical applications, including breath-based diagnostics to replace or supplement conventional blood or urine tests for disease markers, drug levels, metabolic activity and patient health status.
