Propofol - Overview
Xhale has U.S. and international patents with issued claims protecting the measurement and monitoring of the IV-infused anesthetic agent propofol in exhaled breath, as a means of correlating to blood levels of the anesthetic. The company has now developed highly functional sensors which enable the commercialization of this proprietary technology, and future products incorporating the sensors will provide a means to monitor patient blood propofol concentration via exhaled breath. This will give anesthesiologists the critical information needed to better manage patient comfort and safety.
With Xhale's propofol monitor, anesthesiologists will have the ability to:
Maintain patients at an appropriate level of anesthesia - improving patient comfort and safety
In the event of a significant intra-operative event such as hypotension, tachycardia, agitation, hypoxia, etc., XSensor Pro™ provides the anesthetist with a key variable currently unavailable in patient management – the blood concentration of propofol – allowing the provider to focus on other contributing factors
Resolve significant intra-operative events more quickly - improving patient safety
XSensor Pro’s™ display of minute-to-minute blood propofol concentration provides the anesthetist with an additional tool to manage the timing of patient emergence
More closely align patient emergence with operating room events - bringing new efficiencies to medical procedures
XSensor Pro™ allows the anesthetist to gauge minute by minute patient propofol blood concentration and maintain the anesthesia level with precision
