Helping Anesthetists Deliver Propofol at a Safer LevelIn a given year, 50 - 60 million procedures involving sedation/anesthesia are performed in the United States, and nearly 65% of those include the delivery of propofol. Propofol’s reputation as the “drug of choice” for most general anesthesia procedures has been growing, due to its rapid onset, quick patient recovery, reduced need for other sedatives and overall increased patient satisfaction.
Anesthetists have been monitoring the concentration of inhalational anesthetic agents for years, using these measurements as a guide in delivery of anesthesia. Yet no system has existed to allow the measurement of the blood concentration of an intravenously administered anesthetic, like propofol. For the first time, Xhale’s XSensor Pro™ Propofol Monitor will provide anesthetists with this important tool.
Xhale’s XSensor Pro™ Propofol Monitor will be the world’s first breath-based anesthesia monitor for routine clinical use with propofol, and will be the only monitor to provide anesthetists with a minute-to-minute reading of a patient’s blood to propofol concentration.
